Conventional digital tubes or LED screens require constant power to display a digit; even for a simple “1”, the entire backlight or many pixels still consume electricity. Our mechanical push‑pull clock follows an “on‑demand display” principle: only the segments that are physically extended light up their LEDs. For the digit “1”, only segments b and c are illuminated, while the other five segments draw zero power. This reduces overall energy consumption by over 60% while extending the lifespan of both LEDs and mechanical parts. The solid wood case is also a renewable material, making the entire product an embodiment of eco‑friendly design.
